Battle of the Bug

Battle of the Bug, originally uploaded by cinda marie.

These two bees were fighting over their spot on this flower. Who would win? The larger bumble bee did win the spar.

This photograph was taken in the garden of Ronald Regan's boyhood home in Dixon, IL. The house has many historical memories of his childhood, acting career and life as a President.

I would like to think that this picture is really saying a statement. These bees are not interested in the dried flora in the background, their only interest was in the fresh nearly perfect bloom with the sweetness. Isn't this a lot like human nature? Looking for the best, prettiest or something that someone else has under their domain? I have to admire the smaller little guy for taking the chance and putting his best foot forward to get what he wanted. We all need to try no matter how difficult the situation might be.

This sunny yellow flower has great color, clarity and simply says it's a sunshine happy day!

Festival of the Tall Sail Port of San Diego 2008

Last weekend was the celebrate of the Tall Ships at the Port of San Diego, There were two dozen Tall Sail Ship from around the world. They were exceptional to take pictures of; these superior vessels of the sea. The sky was blue, the water calm and the weather, as usual, was next to perfect. There were so many interesting people enjoying the day in the park watching this fab event. If you would like to see more of the ships that took part in this event check out my flickr link...

It was amazing to watch the sailors work on the masts, no idea that bravery was a job requirement for these guys and gals of the sea. Happy sailing to all!

Tribute to Bob Hope

Bob Hope, originally uploaded by cinda marie.

This is a picture taken of Bob Hope's Statue that stands at the San Diego Bay just next to the battle ship Midway. He was a legend that entertained our troops, this is photo shows him singing but the troops are watching him in this piece of art, how touching. I wish you could see this.

San Diego makes a statement that the ARTS are important; as you walk along this ocean front you can see how they have expressed and allowed the art community to make a difference here. There are many commissioned pieces that really stir your creative insights. One of my favorites was the over-sized kalidescope, it was very entertaining.

Balboa Park San Diego

Great Day in the Park!
Want a relaxing stroll in the park with a lot of interesting worthwhile shots? Balboa Park is the answer when in San Diego. Her you will find several museums, fountains and coves. The buildings at Balboa Park present a variety of interesting backdrops for you photos. You will want to check out the Japanese Garden, beautiful!!! Explore this green lush haven in the big city.

Like to take pictures of animals? Visit the San Diego Zoo. The best time to visit is in the morning around feeding time, it seems as though the animals are in their prime posing positions. I like to take the pictures as if they were a portrait of a person. I always try to shoot the face and eyes. If you can capture the eyes you can enter into the soul of the animal and just imagine what they are thinking.

Happy shooting...

Sailing San Diego

IMG_3252.JPG, originally uploaded by cinda marie.

San Diego... What a place to visit! I'm in the San Diego mode; this was a picture that I took last year. I will have some shots on flickr in a few days from my recent trip; some of the pics are incredible.

This week the Tall Sail Festival 2008 is going on and it will run through Sunday August 24th. It is well worth the trip if you can make it. Every year Tall Sail Ships meet in San Diego from around the world. It was amazing to see the sailors walk on the high ropes to tie the masts. There is plenty of people watching, digital camera buffs and strange and unusual things happening on Harbor Drive, downtown.

The Cabrillo Lighthouse is located near Loma Point overlooking the city. You can take great full shots of the city and bay area. It is best if you hit the Lighthouse after the morning fog lifts, most days 11AM. It is a National Park so there is a fee to get in.

Just below the Lighthouse are the Tide Pools. Here you will find there are great natural rock formations, ocean waves and surfers seem to gather.

Think out of the box. Bring your creative ability to the next level.

Bye for now!

Sea Monster San Diego California

IMG_2957.JPG, originally uploaded by cinda marie.

On the Road Again, traveling today to one of my favorite cities: San Diego. I snapped this picture at Balboa Park on one of my past trips. Actually, it is one of the fountains located in the courtyard.

San Diego is a paradise for a photographer with all of the terrific sites and points of interest... and the weather is near perfect. If you enjoy people watching, this is the place to visit. A few of my fav's are the Wharf, the San Diego Zoo, Sea World, the sandy beaches and not to exclude Sea Port Village.

Take a peek at additional pictures on Flickr...

Have a great day!

Kauai

IMG_6601.JPG, originally uploaded by cinda marie.

Greetings... This is a photograph taken on Hawaiian Trip to the Garden Island of Kauai. Kauai is known for it's lush green mountains, beautiful sandy beaches. I'm entertained by photographing Hawaiian Flora, I had a difficult time finding exactly what I was looking for in subject matter. This island has two Botanical Gardens filled with beautiful trees and walkways resulting in several outstanding shots, but very little in the way of flowers. The place where I found the best flora to snap was in the resort gardens and a roadside garden center open to the public.

There are many attractions to explore and tours of the Island. My favorite tour was the Movie Tour showing places of interest where famous movies were filmed. The stop on the top of my list was the Coco Palms Resort; it was damaged in a hurricane over 15 years ago. The classic movie Blue Hawaii starring Elvis Presley was filmed there bringing many of the scenes to life.

Get close and personal to your subject!

Bayfield, Madeline Island, Wisconsin 2008

This summer I took a trip exploring fourteen states and traveling 5800 miles. I met people that were so interesting from all walks of life. I saw the beauty of this great country. One thing that I brought back from this trip; every place I stopped had it's very own personality, flavor and culture unique to itself. This is a picture of the Marina at Bayfield, Wisconsin, located on Lake Superior. The 22 Apostle Islands are near this Marina and if you have a love for sailing this is the place for you to visit.
